So, you are toying with the idea of installing a hot tub in your home? Well, that’s a great choice overall, but not one that should be made without considering carefully where your hot tub would be best located. In this post, we cover some of the key considerations when choosing where to have your hot tub installed in your home.

Indoors or Outdoors?

Traditionally, hot tubs for recreational use are installed outdoors. But here in the UK, this presents a problem in the form of our glorious weather. It could make much better sense to locate your hot tub indoors, so that it can be used all year round. Alternatively, a nice compromise is to have the hot tub installed within a purpose-built structure in your garden.

Think About Drainage and Water Supply

Although you won’t be draining and refilling your hot tub very often (Every 3 months), you will need to locate it close to a water source. You will also need to consider where you will drain the water to. You can change your water yourself or you can sign up to a maintenance plan and let our professionals do the work for you.

Will it be Easy to Maintain?

A hot tub doesn’t need an awful lot of maintenance, but it is not maintenance free. You need to ensure that there is enough space around the hot tub to clean it properly, and also to provide easy access to the hardware that pumps and heats the water.

Do You Need Privacy?

Not everyone is an exhibitionist. If you are concerned that neighbours or members of the public might be able to see you while in your hot tub, you will need to choose a location that at least partially conceals it. You could also construct a wall or fence to place your hot tub behind.

Is it Structurally Safe?

A full hot tub is heavy, very heavy. A full hot tub with one or two occupants, could easily way three tons or more. Therefore, wherever you choose to place your hot tub, it needs to be able to take this kind of weight. Otherwise, you will need to add some form to support or reinforcement before installing your hot tub.

How Often Will You Use Your Hot Tub?

This final consideration is the most important of all, and this is why it was left until last. Most of the other considerations depend upon this one. For example, if you intend to use your hot tub almost daily, any time of the day or night, installing it at the end of your garden might not be the best idea. You will have to weight each consideration, and make a decision based on ease of use, so that you have easy access to your hot tub whenever you want to use it.
